Thank
you for visiting my web site.
This is a new site that I will be developing in greater
detail over the next few months. This first phase gives you a brief introduction
to the work that I have completed over the last several years as I led
an architectural practice focused on historic preservation. My work has
included planning, architecture and historic preservation as best illustrated
by the projects listed below.

From this portfolio, however, I have learned that the term historic preservation has a limiting connotation. In my consulting practice I am moving away from the limits of “bricks and mortar” and into the broader areas of planning, research and writing. Whereas buildings are testaments to the stories of people’s lives, the actual telling of the stories of those lives, through both physical and archival research may be the more fascinating part of the puzzle. The following summarize the 200 preservation projects with which I have been involved: Planning Projects I-94 Rehabilitation Study, Detroit, Michigan – facilitation of Section 106 process, consultant to SmithGroup, estimated completion 2004. Conservation Assessment Program – architectural assessor to small historic museums around the Midwest since 1992. R. J.
